FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
    Your team will work together to build a brand new home over the weekend, each member using their unique gifts to bless a family in need. Expect to have lots of fun and to create new friendships. Expect opportunities to interact with neighbors of the family for whom you are building and with local children. Expect physical labor, bumpy dirt roads, out-house restrooms and possible hot or rainy weather. But most importantly, please expect to be flexible. Flexibility and a positive attitude are the keys to a successful faith adventure team!
  • IS IT SAFE?
    Yes! Rosarito is a very safe area and the hotel and surrounding area is also quite safe.
  • CAN I BRING MY KIDS?
    Yes! We encourage this. We love it when families and children come on the trip. It is a wonderful experience to share with the whole family. But, no babysitters are provided so parents need to keep in mind that kids will need extra attention.
  • DO I NEED A PASSPORT?
    Short answer: YES! Long answer: If you are under the age of 18 you may bring your birth certificate and a form of ID. If you are over the age of 18 you must have a passport. ​ Click here if you need a passport!
  • HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
    Each person will have to pay $225. ($120 per youth accompanied by their family).
  • WHAT DOES MY TRIP COST COVER?
    This covers your transportation, food, and hotel. (All meals are covered, except for any additional meals/food you would like to purchase and food during the drive to and from Mexico).
  • WHAT DO DONATIONS COVER?
    The donations go completely to the materials for the house. All participants are responsible for their own trip costs.

  • WHEN IS THE DEADLINE TO DONATE?
    Short answer: NOW. We need to have the money submitted to Baja Christian Ministries so that they can prepare the site and purchase the materials before we arrive. Long answer: We are always accepting donations. Whether it goes toward this trip or the next, it will go toward building a home in Plan Libertador. DONATE HERE!
  • DO I HAVE TO BE EXPERIENCED IN CONSTRUCTION?
    No, you don’t have to be experienced in construction work. Everyone will be able to play a part in building and preparing the home for the family. If you would like, you can also take construction breaks to play with local kids, interact and pray with local families and maybe even share Christ!
  • WHERE WILL WE BE STAYING
    We will be staying at the Gamma de Fiesta Inn in Tijuana, Baja California Mexico. Rosarito is a resort town with plenty of safe, clean accommodations.

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
    Once you register, you will receive a Welcome Packet which will include a list of clothing items to pack. Closed-toed shoes, modest clothing, rain poncho. Clothes that you are willing to get dirty, painted, and sweaty. Water, hat, sunscreen. Clothes to hang out in and go to dinner in at night. Money for any souvenir shopping or activities during down time that you wish to do. And your PASSPORT!
  • IS THE WATER SAFE?
    Bring plenty of bottled water for the drive, the construction site and the hotel. Filtered water is provided at the hotel but we still recommend bringing our own. The church will provide safe water and drinks, but if you have specific preferences please bring some along.
  • HOW WILL WE GET TO MEXICO?
    The team will caravan down to Mexico. We will be carpooling in rented vans & private vehicles. If you can be a driver, please let us know on your registration form. Your trip leader will coordinate the carpooling and give you details including info on getting Mexico car insurance.
  • DO I NEED TO BRING ANY BUILDING TOOLS OR SUPPLIES?
    Tools and plenty of tool belts will be supplied for you by Baja Christian Ministers & watermark OC Church. Bring your own work gloves if you have a favorite pair!
  • HOW ARE THE BATHROOM FACILITIES?
    On the job site, there is NO running water and few out-house type toilets.
